Featured in Medium: Tania Gerard on Neurodiversity in the Workforce

I am delighted to share that I was recently featured in Medium as part of their “Neurodiversity in the Workforce” interview series with Eric L. Pines.

The article, titled “Neurodiversity in the Workforce: Tania Gerard On Why It’s Important To Include Neurodiverse Employees & How To Make Your Workplace More Neuro-Inclusive”, explores my journey, my work, and my mission to help companies embrace neurodiversity as a strength.

What the Interview Covered

In the interview, I shared insights from my own lived experience with ADHD and autism, as well as my professional journey as the founder of Tania Gerard Digital UK, one of the UK’s first consultancies dedicated to accessible marketing and neurodiversity in the workplace.

We discussed:

  • The importance of clear communication: from structured agendas to written notes after meetings

  • Why inclusion benefits everyone: small adjustments for neurodivergent employees often improve culture and productivity for the whole team

  • Practical strategies: such as flexibility, sensory-friendly environments, and leadership education

  • The business case for neuroinclusion: from improved loyalty and retention to unlocking creativity and innovation

I also outlined five best practices that any company can use to become more neuro-inclusive, including communication clarity, flexibility, sensory adjustments, leadership education, and feedback loops.

My Journey and Mission

In the feature, I spoke about my backstory – from my ADHD diagnosis as a child and autism diagnosis at 25, through to creating my consultancy after years of seeing workplaces and campaigns not designed with people like me in mind.

I also discussed the challenges I’ve faced as a business owner, from undervaluing my services in the early days to learning how to confidently build a consultancy that supports companies like the NHS, Greene King, Swim England, and Help for Heroes.

What drives me today is clear: to make both workplaces and marketing more accessible, ensuring that different brains and perspectives are not just accepted, but celebrated.

Why This Feature Matters

Being featured in Medium is not only an honour, but also an opportunity to amplify the conversation around neurodiversity in the workplace. Too often, accessibility is treated as an afterthought. My hope is that interviews like this one will encourage more companies to integrate accessibility from the start – creating cultures where people can thrive, and businesses can truly benefit from diverse ways of thinking.
