When Simon Squibb Says Yes: A Meeting That Changed Everything

Simon Squibb doesn't just give out his time – but he gave me his.

Simon Squibb has built and sold businesses, advised thousands of founders, and reaches millions with his content and mission. So when he says yes to a one-on-one meeting, you know you've got something worth paying attention to.

More Than Just a Meeting

We talked about Tania Gerard Digital UK – what I've built, the mission behind accessible marketing and neurodiversity in business, and where I'm taking it next. Simon didn't sugarcoat a thing. He gave me real advice. Clear, challenging, and much needed. The kind of insight most founders don't get unless they're backed by big budgets or big names.

But he saw the value in what I do and gave me his time anyway.

He also introduced me to a brilliant business contact (more on that soon!) and signed my copy of What's Your Dream? with a message that's staying with me through every pitch, keynote, and investor deck from here on out.

If someone like Simon Squibb believes in what I'm building, maybe it's time you paid attention too.

The Real Story: How Dreams Become Reality

Since that meeting, I've been reflecting on how it all came about and what happened after. It was a planned-in-advance meeting, and I wasn't just given it. As I mentioned, Simon doesn't just give his time; he has to see your passion and grit for the work you do.

After our meeting, many people came up to me (both on the day and online) asking how I did it, how I know him, what I did to get one-on-one time with someone like him, what advice I had to attain their dreams. I realised that sometimes it's both who you know and what you know, a powerful combination to have.

But there's one crucial element missing: it's also HOW you know. How are you going to action your dream?

Seizing the Moment: The HelpBnk Story

Taking opportunities when they come around is everything. Not everything is luck, some things were meant to be yours, but if you aren't in the right headspace, you won't see them as opportunities and they'll just pass you by.

I'd been thinking about doing the HelpBnk doorbell at Virgin Hotels Shoreditch for months. Time passed, and I happened to be booked for a workshop down in London. My opportunity came. I made time to get from one side of London to the other and then travel back home to Leicester – all in the same day. (For a neurodivergent person, this is A LOT.)

I wasn't happy with my first run-through – tired and a bag of nerves – so I did another take. Multiple people passed by, loud noises disrupted me, but I held my own and kept going (as you’ll see from the video!). Simon and his team saw this continued attempt to power through with my passion, and I finished the pitch.

The rest is for another time... but that moment of persistence changed everything.

Your Sign to Start

I want you to take this as your sign to start your dream in however small way you can. Not all of us have the luxury to quit our jobs and start full-time (we have bills to pay, ugh!), but you can start with an Excel sheet, Google sheet, or even pen and paper.

Write down:

  • What you enjoy

  • What you don't enjoy

  • What could help people

  • What could make a real difference to both the world and your life

You might just surprise yourself with what comes out.

The Future of Business is Here

Accessible marketing isn't actually that well-known of a term but we are trying to boost its popularity! Neurodiversity training isn't something to tick off a checklist. They're the future of ethical, high-performing business, and I help companies get there.

When someone like Simon Squibb recognises the value in what you're building, it's not just validation you recieve and feel but it's a responsibility to push forward, to make that vision a reality.

What's Your Dream?

My dream is that you grab yours.

The meeting with Simon wasn't just about getting advice or making connections (though both were invaluable). It was about recognising that when you combine passion with action, when you're willing to travel across London in a single day and redo your pitch until it's right, when you refuse to let nerves or circumstances stop you – that's when dreams start becoming reality.

The question isn't whether you have what it takes. The question is: are you ready to take action?
