Tania Gerard Just Made the Final Shortlist for Entrepreneur of the Year, and Here's the Story Behind It

I've been shortlisted as a finalist for Entrepreneur of the Year at the Generation Next Awards 2026.

What the Entrepreneur of the Year Award actually recognises

The Entrepreneur of the Year Award celebrates a creative and visionary business entrepreneur. It's for someone with the drive and ambition to carry through innovative strategies that genuinely grow their business, and who can point to real evidence of that growth in action.

Reading through the criteria, it's for entrepreneurs who inspire their colleagues to push a vision forward, who can show how their ideas have directly grown their business, and who have the potential to mentor others coming up behind them. That last part matters to me as much as anything else on the list.

Why TGD made the shortlist

Tania Gerard Digital started as one person with a laptop and a conviction that accessible marketing shouldn't be an afterthought. Since then, it's grown into a consultancy working with organisations like the NHS, UK Parliament, Greene King and Help for Heroes, built entirely around the idea that inclusive design and neurodiversity awareness aren't nice extras, they're good business.

That's the kind of growth this award is looking for. Not growth for its own sake, but growth driven by an idea that other people can genuinely learn from and use.

What Generation Next is all about

Generation Next is part of East Midlands Chamber, supporting the region's next generation of business leaders and entrepreneurs. Previous finalists for this award have come from businesses across talent, tech, manufacturing and beyond, all showing the kind of ambition this award is built to recognise.

Being shortlisted alongside that calibre of entrepreneur is genuinely humbling.

What happens next

The Generation Next Awards will announce the winners later this year. Until then, I'll be celebrating every other finalist on that list, because the East Midlands is clearly full of entrepreneurs doing exceptional work.
